Dead Locks - To remove or not to remove?

Clearing up dead locks from a DOORS database used to be a frequent admin activity.

Since DOORS 7.1 there are not supposed to be dead locks but sometimes there still are.

I am upgrading a DOORS 8.3 database to DOORS 9.6

There are many dead locks in the database of varying vintage.

I could remove all the dead locks before migrating the data

(lock.dtc and l1*.dtc files)

What is better:-

1. Remove the dead locks, since they should not be there.

2. Leave the dead locks there since they don't seem to be doing any harm and guddling with the database files structure always introduces risk

?
